Bihar Police claimed to have identified the caller, who had allegedly made telephone calls to the state Minister for Public Health and Engineering Department and local MLA Ashwini Kumar Chaubey threatening him to eliminate the minister and
his family. The man, police claims to be a Sadanand Mandal of Bhagalpur and the police have begun investigation in this case.
Chaubey, who claimed to have recieved threatening calls from the mobile number 09525075766 late Monday night, had lodged an FIR with the Secretariat police station in the state capital in this connection.
Mandal called Chaubey on his mobile phone late Monday and threatened to kill
him and his family, police alleged. The minister soon informed the police. He
said Mandal threatened him thrice.
A police officer said Mandal earlier threatened a college professor and
demanded a large sum.
“Police have begun investigation in the case,” Deputy Superintendent of
Police Rajesh Kumar said.
The caller identified himself as
Khan Bhai and claimed to be self-styled commander of the proscribed
CPI(Maoist). "He used abusive words and warned me of cutting me to size
and killing me," Choubey said.
He said he informed Senior Superintendent
of Police Vinit Vinayak about it and sought police protection.
