On the lines of metro cities, Bhagalpur is among those four major cities - Gaya, Darbhanga & Muzaffarpur - where the state government plans to depute Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and SP (Rural) in addition to the regular SP post to curb the increasing crimes in the regions. Thirty years is a long time to heal even the worst of wounds. Patel Sah, Umesh
Yadav or, for that matter, Devraj Khatri would not agree though. Now in their
mid-50s, the trio were among the 33 youths whose eyes were gouged out and acid

amusing tale, but it would appear true if one goes by the statistics and
perception of Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation (BMC). The BMC, relying on its
facts and figures, has decided to catch the thieves and take suitable action.
In Hindu mythology, a child dying of snakebite is not cremated. Instead, the corpse is tied to a raft made of banana stems and
floated on the river Ganga with the hope that the child might return
someday. While many would think it to be insane, Naresh Paswan and his wife
Asha Devi did just that when their eight- year old son Amit was presumed
dead after he was bitten by a snake. Years passed and the Paswan
family had come to accept their fate till
this Monday, when a young man knocked at their door. Dressed in a saffron robe, the
21- year- old claimed to be their
'dead' son Amit. He had returned home after 13 years.
